Assessment & Evaluation

Online Course Critique
Description
This project started with attending an online course to reflect on and critique the design of the course. The experience/course design was evaluated based on the University of Tennessee’s best practices for developing and delivering online instruction. Additionally, what else could be done to improve the course was explored, and possible design solutions were suggested. Steps in Japanese for Beginners was found on edX by me searching for Japanese Language and was taken as a sample. This topic was related to my future goals.

Rationale
Through this project, I show that online learning can be selected, analyzed, and associated with practical and theoretical implications. For this project, the theory and research related to online learning environments were read in depth. Through this project, I gained experience evaluating online courses that reflected relevant reading. The learning gained through the project is essential knowledge for the professional practice of instructional technology, instructional design, and instructional technology dealing with all kinds of distance configurations.

Online Activity Showcase
Description
The project is a showcase formally called "Participatory Online Activity Showcase and Analysis-Guided Evaluation.” This assessment explored, demonstrated, led, and reflected on online activity with classmates. This task included three basic parts: planning, in-class performance (presentation) (20-25 minutes), and reflection. To achieve this, I needed to find innovative methods to engage online learners in synchronous or asynchronous activities and demonstrate/implement these methods in the Zoom class during the allotted time.

Rationale
As a professional, I had to gain experience testing new ways to engage online learners and understand how my beliefs related to online learning impacted the types of activities I introduced. Through this project, I developed the ability to find, design, or customize existing online learning activities for content. I also showed that I could provide a theoretical analysis by demonstrating the activities of course participants and reflecting on what worked and what didn't.
